WYDAC is an important Central Australian Aboriginal organisation, providing vital support services in the Warlpiri communities of Yuendumu, Lajamanu, Nyirripi and Willowra. I was headhunted for the role of improving WYDAC’s communications and media output and return on investment. Key Contributions • Built relationships with key funding bodies using contacts from previous roles. • Produced backlog of Annual Reports. • Successfully managed WYDAC’s communications products, including rewriting website and auditing social media channels to ensure brand alignment. • Worked with a public relations firm to develop good news stories around WYDAC’s work.

I research and write speeches for a range of Australian Government ministers on a very wide range of topics. I write for www.indigenous.gov.au, the Australian Government's primary source of information and news on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander issues. I also prepare media releases, messages and annual reports. In all of these endeavours I work to communicate the links between the whole of government agenda, funding priorities and the relevant government programmes. To do this I research extensively from a wide variety of resources, synthesising large amounts of information in short periods and thorough fact checking. I work to understand the audience for each product and tailor style and message accordingly. I have also organised Prime Ministerial and Ministerial events, including one located at a huge fuel depot in the middle of the wet season. I have to think on my feet, manage competing priorities and respond positively and flexibly to the often changing and challenging demands of the office.
