Vladimir Belashchenko
I know Alexander since 2000 and had opportunities to work with him during my consulting for Alstom Power (currently – GE). Alexander’s expertise in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, gas dynamic and plasma physics was extremely helpful in our projects in the area of plasma treatment of materials and plasma spraying. Mostly the projects were related to the development and optimization of spraying processes and advanced coatings for power generation components. This type of projects are dealing with simultaneous consideration of significant amount of interconnected parameters and their possible variations. Thus, they need extensive experimentation and, therefore, could be very challenging, time consuming and expensive. Alexander’s capability to use applied physics in a lean and pragmatic way as engineering tool for the process simulation enabled significant time and cost savings in the experiments as well as in manufacturing. Moreover, his further data analysis enabled generalization of the results and made them applicable and useful for solution of similar problems in the future. Alexander is capable of handling extremely complicated tasks which involve multiple inter-connected parameters.
