The Programme is funded by the German government to support peace, reconciliation and justice efforts in war-torn countries. It advocates a world in which conflicts are settled without violence. As Country Coordinator in South Sudan, I am the central contact person on site for matters concerning AGIAMONDO and its Civil Peace Service (CPS) programme. I establish and develop contacts between local partners and the embassy of Germany as well as all other foreign institutions which can support partners. I oversee the design of annual work plans for each partner project. I ensure an outcome-oriented planning, monitoring and evaluation plan for the partner projects. This helps me oversee the projects from a technical perspective and ensure that the project is geared towards the agreed objectives and outcomes. I act as a mediator in the event of a conflict between the CPS worker and the local partner. I act as a security advisor for the personnel, establishing safety and security rules in the country of operations in liaison with HQ based management / safety and security officer. I ensure quality assurance in the financial accounting by making sure that project funds are utilised in accordance with the cooperation agreement and in line with the AGIAMONDO financial guidelines and standards through a monthly follow up and the quarterly review of the financial reports from the local partners. Jan 2017 - Feb 2021
The aim of this position was to support the development and oversight of TFV programmes under the reparations and assistance mandates in the situation country. In collaboration with The Hague based colleagues and the country office, I was leading the process of selecting implementing partners for the programme, including the call for expressions of interest which was published in prominent Ivorian newspapers, the analysis of the responses to the call for expression of interest and the selection of suitable organizations to be invited to submit proposals. I ensured that the newly selected implementing partners understand their obligations towards TFV/ICC and operate in accordance with their service contracts, and in line with the TFV’s Performance Measurement Plan (PMP), including reporting, monitoring and evaluation and financial control. For this purpose, under the supervision of the Programme Manager, I organized different capacity building trainings for the implementing partners. I have also developed the TFV methodology for the programme in Cote d’Ivoire to contribute to the learning process in the organisation as well as setting a good basis for the interaction with the Ministry of Solidarity, in charge of the victims related issues in the country. Upon request of the TFV Executive Director I contributed to the development of a Draft Implementation Plan (DIP) for Court-ordered reparations in the Al-Mahdi case in Mali. In this regard, I carried out extensive consultations with national stakeholders such as UNESCO-Mali, public servants, association of victims and communities in Bamako and Timbuktu. This led to the writing of the comprehensive Draft Implementation Plan (DIP) which was finally approved by the Chamber. Show less

Apr 2017 - Aug 2017
The project aimed to identify conflict drivers at five mining sites and provide training in conflict management, advocacy and early warning. As the senior project coordinator in Côte d'Ivoire, I supervised the project activities. I also established an effective network of NGOs, local, political and administrative authorities in all geographical areas of project implementation. To launch the project, I recruited the members of the research team. During the project, I was the main interface between GIZ and IDS. I supervised the writing of the training modules and delivered the training at the different mine sites. Finally, I contributed to the establishment of a monitoring and evaluation system for the project activities. At the end of the project, in coordination with all the research teams, I finalized the narrative and financial reports of the activities, which were sent to GIZ, the donor, within the specified timeframe. The project highlighted the root causes of conflicts in the mining areas and the project also recommended ways to prevent and manage these conflicts. Show less

As a result of the trainings, the DPDs have started working in the communities and were key actors to resolve Ebola - driven conflicts in the communities where they work. DPDs were truly recognized community-based organizations for their work to mitigate conflicts in the communities. It was also possible to draw lessons for the next phase. Finally, it was possible for the government of Côte d'Ivoire to design the next phase of the project and to obtain the necessary funding from the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund (UNPBF). Show less

Jan 2010 - Dec 2011
In my role as peace and development advisor, I worked with peacebuilding officers in the reintegration and development centres in Juba, Magwi and Torit. I advised the peacebuilding officers on the planning, implementation and monitoring of community-led peace activities for the reduction of violence in the communities. I supported them in the process of establishing peace committees. These peace committees were then able to undertake relevant activities in their communities. Through these activities, the Peacebuilding Departments facilitated the reintegration of former refugees into their communities of origin. I also advised the peacebuilding officers in the management of their department and the establishment of a monitoring and evaluation system. The main achievements in this area are: the RDCs have obtained monitoring and evaluation systems, functional peace committees with well-trained members, functional peacebuilding departments with activity and strategic plans. The objectives of the project were first to strengthen the capacity of political and local authorities, youth and women to undertake peacebuilding and conflict transformation; second, to empower women to contribute positively to peacebuilding and peaceful conflict resolution; then to support the funding of Quick Impact Projects (QIPs) for youth and women to undertake development interventions that strengthen peacebuilding and peaceful conflict resolution. Finally, to collaborate with the Government of Côte d'Ivoire (Ministry of Reconciliation) to put in place a national policy for reconciliation and peacebuilding in the country. As the project manager in Western Cote d'Ivoire, the most affected zone by the various Ivorian conflicts since 2002, my role was to direct and guide the effective implementation, administrative/financial management and programming of operations and actions in order to achieve the envisaged objectives. To achieve this, I planned and coordinated various peacebuilding activities in the project implementation zone, composed of Toulepleu, Guiglo, Duekoue and Blolequin. I also developed training modules and organized trainings for project beneficiaries such as women, youth, ex-combatants. I established very close relationships with regional actors and program partners (local administrative and political authorities, NGOs, GTZ-International Services, local radio stations and UN field agencies). I analysed on a regular basis, funding requests for quick impact projects from youth and women's organizations, ex-combatants, and IDPs, and for those projects that received funding, I successfully monitored their implementation as well as the process of funding quick impact projects according to GTZ rules; Finally, as the person in charge of staff security in the zone, I reported all security incidents to the country director while providing advice and recommendations. Oct 2004 - Mar 2007
The main objective of the ICRC mission in Côte d’Ivoire was to stabilize the humanitarian situation in Côte d’Ivoire. In my role as a field officer I successfully identified the specific humanitarian needs and evaluated the security level as well as the evolution of the political and humanitarian situation in the region covered by the sub delegation of Gagnoa to adequately inform the head of office through written and oral reports. To do so I developed contact network to local interlocutors, in particular with political authorities, representatives of various ethnic communities, media, religious organizations, NGOs humanitarian organizations and UN field agencies make the link between these organizations and the expatriates. I supervised the work of 12 volunteers of the red cross. Key results include the reunification of five children (ex-combatants living in Liberia) with their family in Cote d’Ivoire. At that period, International organizations were not accepted in Cote d’Ivoire and in the West particularly but I contributed to ease the work of ICRC by training security forces, community leaders, youth leaders and women leaders. Also I identified and got funds in the ICRC to implement projects, which opened the doors to work in rural communities and villages. I connected ICRC with international, national and local stakeholders as part of my duties. Therefore, security wise, expatriates had nothing to fear. In November 2004, while the country was burning, I organized the exfiltration of an expatriate who was kept in Daloa. Show less
