TheirStory provides a web-based interviewing and storytelling platform that helps cultural heritage organizations and universities streamline the process of collecting, preserving, and engaging with the audiovisual stories of their communities. Among the diverse set of communities who use TheirStory are the Los Angeles Public Library, University of Kentucky's Louie B. Nunn Center for Oral History, Cornell University, the Council of American Jewish Museums, AIDS Healthcare Foundation, the Armah Institute of Emotional Justice/The Black Frontline, and the Chickaloon Native Village of the Ahtna Tribe in Southcentral Alaska. TheirStory partners with Aviary (aviaryplatform.com) for searchability/accessibility of audiovisual materials as well as automated transcription and transcript editing. This enables search across an entire audiovisual collection down to the moment in a specific recording when a word is spoken or topic discussed. TheirStory partners with Permanent.org for preservation. Recordings can automatically be synced to Permanent -- the world's first secure cloud storage platform backed by a non-profit. Recordings are both synced to the institutional archive and can be shared back with the narrator and their family in their own personal Permanent archive, thus promoting long-term preservation not just for the institution, but also for individuals and families. Together we built a truly life-changing service providing care to seniors throughout the Bay Area, giving families peace of mind, and empowering caregivers to earn more while doing what they love.   Worked to develop a panel of biomarkers that, after brain injury in juvenile pigs, demonstrated a correlation between increase in biomarker concentration in blood serum and severity of brain injury. The application of this is to be able to determine the severity of a brain injury in an infant through a simple blood test as opposed to having to subject the infant to a CT scan or MRI.
