    • General Manager, NBN Operational Standards
      • Nov 2010 - Dec 2017

The NBN Operational Standards team were responsible for the Development and Management of a set of documentation to support the rollout and ongoing operation of the NBN. This included Technical Specifications and Procedures, Operations & Maintenance Manuals and Operational Protocols. The scope of the function was across all infrastructures subject to the Infrastructure Services Agreement (ISA) including Equipment Buildings, Dark Fibre, Ducts & Pits, Poles, Copper networks and HFC networks. In this role, I managed a team that took over 300 technical documents that had been developed over 3 decades and reviewed them for currency for the NBN rollout. Where there were no existing documents, new documents were written for this purpose. New processes were established for nbn reporting network assurance issues and operational protocols developed for how Telstra and nbn operational personnel should interact. Where nbn proposed to introduce new materials or processes into the Copper or HFC networks, my team would manage the review and approval of those items.I established and ran management forums between Telstra and nbn for co-ordination of Network Assurance and Health, Safety and Environment activities under the ISA.

    • General Manager, Network Standards & Compliance
      • Dec 2005 - Nov 2010

The Network Standards & Compliance team were responsible for the Development and Management of a set of documentation to guide the investment in Telstra’s fixed line networks, core networks and power and building services. This included developing the investment rules consistent with Telstra’s strategy and capital expenditure requirements. In this role, I managed a team that transformed Telstra’s Network Deployment Standards from a series of guidelines to sets of rules with a compliance framework. This provided a greater control of the network investment outcomes, maximising returns on the available capital expenditure.I had significant input into the modelling Telstra’s fixed line network including modelling for fixed line network regulatory pricing, Telstra’s planned FTTN network and the subsequent government sponsored NBN.
