Zach is someone who isn't afraid to work hard and take constructive criticism to improve whatever project he is working on. During his tenure in our chapter I watched him grow from a soft spoken new member to an outspoken advocate for doing what is right, even if it wasn't popular. I also watched him spend countless hours on his architectural projects, creating what to me looked like creative ideas and solutions. Zach is ethical and disciplined in his work, and someone I can always count on to complete whatever task or issue I need him to resolve.

As a Detailer at the American Buildings Company, I use a BIM program named Tekla to model in all aspects of a rigid frame metal building. With this program I was responsible for generating the project model, creating shop drawings for the fabrication shop, a bill of material tally, and making erection drawings for the builder to use to assemble the project in the field with all the standard details along with any custom details that I had to make. During my time there I worked on work orders that consisted of; demolition plans, material changes, finish schedules, product details, electrical plans, mechanical plans, landscaping plans. restroom elevations, and renderings. Other office tasks I had were; updating the materials library, code research, verifying site conditions, updating existing plans, and keeping records.

During my time as Philanthropy Chair for Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity my main goal was to organize fundraising events. The most prominent charity that we would raise money for was the Relay for Life or Jackson County. As the Relay team captain I organized events for fundraising that led to the amount of $8,600. This is the most money ever raised by a greek organization on SIUC campus. For these efforts our chapter was ranked third nationally for our philanthropy effort that year. The Alternative Spring Break was an opportunity to volunteer for Habitat for Humanity for an entire week. I was able to help build homes for unfortunate family in the Greater Miami area. During the week I was appointed group leader and my group was in charge of laying out the new driveways and sidewalks for the homes. Our jobs consisted of staking out the layout, digging out the area, and building the forms for the concrete.
