I performed the regular duties of a Crew Member but with the added aspects of training people in between my regular duties. I had to review every procedure so that I knew it well and could be an example of how to do each procedure correctly. I had a group of five crew members in the store that I focused on. Whenever there was a chance, I would pull some of the crew aside and review the procedures with them and have them demonstrate the procedure to me. During my regular work, I made sure that procedures were being followed and if not would correct them and make sure they knew how to do it.

My co-counselor and I led a different group of 8-14 campers each week. Every week provided new challenges such as a sick camper, camper getting homesick or a mentally challenged camper having difficulty connecting with the rest of the group. We had to find ways each week to earn there trust, keep sickness from spreading, make sure the campers focused on the current activities rather than a desire for home and create opportunities where the campers could make strong connections with each other.
