Engineering Technician

• Assists in managing construction projects through design and construction phases including project planning, scheduling, coordination, budgeting, procurement, and field inspection. Reviews plans submitted by private engineers and provides verbal/written comments to implement design changes for conformance with District standards and requirements. Conducts site visits, guides, and assists contractors where applicable. • Prepares, maintains, and revises detailed engineering drawings related to the construction of a variety of electrical and mechanical systems using AutoCAD. Overlooks drawing database and handles critical information sharing with outside agencies. Develops digital drawing standards and templates for in-house designs and projects. • Researches published literature, performs engineering calculations, and conducts data analysis using MS Excel to verify engineering designs, investigate system anomalies, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency. • Provides technical support and direction to MID staff on an as-needed basis or as directed.
