  Four months work experience working 24 hours a week within the quality labs. My main duties included: o Nutritional Testing: Fat (via Soxhlet Extraction), Protein (via Kjeldahl Method), Salt (via titration), Dry Matter (via oven drying), pH o Microbiology Testing: plating samples, counting colonies, making media, stock rotation of media and samples o Environmental Monitoring: COD via UV-Vis, Effluent analysis via separation technique, factory swabbing o Physical Intake Checks: Organoleptic, NIR, texture analyser o Food Technology: flour analysis – Farinograph, Glutomatic o Use of SAP: recording and reporting results, making inspection lots o Following SOPs and operating under GLP, GMP o In house training – Chemical handling, COSHH, FLT hazards, H&S in the lab Additional duties: o Assistance with COSHH forms o Assistance with Risk Assessments o Health & Safety Reporting o Stock check & order chemicals Whilst at Dr Oetker one of my highlights was assisting in the development of a new procedure to measure titratable acidity of factory samples which took research and time but was a great tool once developed. Near the end of my time at Dr Oetker I was also tasked with providing cover for labs whilst unassisted which felt like a a great achievement due to the confidence the technicians and manager had in my abilities.
