As a member of Kebotix's chemistry team engaged on the laboratory side of building software tools for reaction optimization and machine learning pipelines for organic materials innovation: 1. Conducted experiments and quantitative HPLC/MS assays in support of optimizing external clients' target reactions. 2. Developed a multi-step reaction sequence to prepare two internal R&D candidate materials. 3. Maintained working of laboratory equipment (Schlenk line, glove box, LC/MS, vacuum pumps) Show less

As a member of Dr. Lukasz Pilarski's research group engaged in developing sustainable methods for C-H functionalization: 1. Optimized procedures to isolate organogold(I) complexes generated under solvent-free, mechanochemical conditions. 2. Prepared a series of cyclometalated aryne precursors and characterized the regioisomeric products formed upon aryne activation. As a member of Prof. Shih-Yuan Liu's research group engaged in developing fuel and energy storage and fundamental synthetic applications of boron-nitrogen-containing heterocycles:1. Prepared air- and moisture-sensitive starting materials safely on multi-gram scale according to group standard procedures. Developed successful purification strategies for new compounds, and characterized their structures by NMR, IR, and MS.2. Constructed a flow reactor to facilitate a UV-mediated photoreaction of certain aromatic BN-heterocycles on gram scale. Derivatized the products of the photoreaction by an expedient sequence adapting state-of-the-art synthetic methods, including metallaphotoredox-catalyzed cross-coupling.3. Coordinated design, execution, and analysis of a kinetic study by quantitative in-line mass spectrometry of BN-cyclohexene catalytic dehydrogenation under vapor-flow conditions. Optimized a synthetic route to resolve impurity formation in the production of the key BN-cyclohexene substrate.4. Conducted an in situ kinetic analysis by ReactIR of spontaneous hydrogen release from two BN-cycloalkanes. Collaborated with an external computational chemistry group to develop a mechanistic model consistent with experimental results. Compiled all results of a combined five-year study of BN-cycloalkane hydrogen storage materials into a final summary report for the US Department of Energy. Show less

As a member of Dr. Kian Tan's research group engaged in developing organocatalytic methods to address outstanding challenges in reaction selectivity in organic synthesis:1. Optimized conditions for stereoselective synthesis of chiral glycerol derivatives using a small molecule organocatalyst.2. Investigated the catalyzed reaction mechanism through control reactions, and by using quantitative NMR analysis to measure product yields over time and chiral HPLC analysis to correspondingly monitor product enantiomeric ratios.
