Progressive precision engineering is a high demand fast paced business working predominantly for the Formula One industry.I am studying for my level 3 in Mechanical Engineering. The departments i have worked in are as follows:• The Apprentice Academy - In-depth training in producing parts using hand fitting techniques and manufacturing parts using a manual mill and lathe. • The Pattern Shop - Setting and running jobs with proven programs on 3 axis machines. • 5 Axis Machining Cell - Learning how to use Heidenhain control units, building tools and setting jobs. I intend to learn all aspects of the business, completing all qualifications to degree level. This will enable me to become a proficient Machinist and Mechanical Engineer.

CPI taught me the fundamentals of health and safety in the workplace and how it is implemented into everyday. This is a fundamental part of the engineering role. I worked in:• Inspection Department - learnt how to read drawings and measure parts. I proved a real eye for detail. • Reconditioning and Assembly - Disassembled, recondition and rebuilt, Valves Packing Cases, Pistons and Piston Rods. I ran lapping machines, shot blasts and an ultra sonic tank.• Site Visit - Customer location visit with the sales team. Seeing the compressors in operation. Understanding the customer base. Working with site engineers to replace worn compressor valves.

I started here during my A level studies. I enjoyed my time at Marks and Spencer. Interacting with customers from all walks of life really helped me to develop my interpersonal skills. I was trained on the shop floor, cafe and bakery department. This made me rather versatile for the business. I always had a great rapport with management and excellent feedback from customers this was proven by management reward schemes. I started here during my A level studies.
