Part time research in a structural biology and x-ray crystallography lab. Expressed recombinant proteins related to the initiation of autophagy in E. Coli and purified using affinity chromatography, anion exchange, and size exclusion. Purified proteins were screened with different conditions and hits were further optimized to grow crystals sufficient for x-ray analysis. Research was done under the primary investigator, Dr. Xiangshu Jin. Part time research in a structural biology and x-ray crystallography lab. Full time research in a protein quality control lab. Cultured primate cells with tagged proteins and biochemical markers to assess the interaction between a modified E3 ligase and HSP70 and determine if the E3 ligase function was retained. Research was done under the primary investigator, Dr. Jonathan Schisler. Full time research in a protein quality control lab. Worked with TPU Development Team to develop and test different plastics that had potential in market. Hand mixed different polymers, ground down polymer slabs, compounded polymer to alter properties, and tested final product. All work with and around heavy machinery done in compliance with OSHA guidelines. Worked with TPU Development Team to develop and test different plastics that had potential in market.
