As a new college graduate, I decided to start my own trucking company. I filed with The State of Texas for an LLC and was approved in August of 2013. Originally, my focus was Hotshot deliveries and I progressed into "Full Truck Load" Steel Pipe, Forestry Log Hauling contracts, and Oversize Haul contracts within Texas and bordering states. Starting my own company came with a big learning curve, some lessons of which I had to learn from my own mistakes. Ultimately, through trial and error, I gained a vast wealth of knowledge. Skills include: Sales, Networking, Balancing Budgets, Tax Preparation, Estimating, Financing Options, Logistics, Insurance Coverage, TX DMV Laws, Safety Regulations, IRS Heavy Highway Tax, Quickbooks, Employee/Subcontractor Payroll, Fuel Tracking, Negotiation, and many valuable contacts/mentors along the way.

Feb 2015 - Jun 2016
Upon locking in long term contracts for my trucking company, I no longer needed to search for loads. My drivers had a daily routine and I had ample flexibility with my time and schedule. I utilized my free time by acquiring a position within the field of Construction. This opportunity/experience provided a broad understanding of various trades pertaining to Commercial Construction. I was open/honest with my new employer, PCI: General Contractor, about my on-going business endeavor and was granted the opportunity to manage both. Serving as the Assistant Superintendent on various commercial projects taught me many skills such as: Time Management, Job/Labor Costs, Strict Deadlines, OSHA Safety Requirements, Weekly Payroll, Submittal Exchange, Construction Communication Skills, Blueprint Comprehension, Collaboration Skills, Leadership, Organization, Scheduling, and Bidding.
