Bio
Jane Marsh
Zach’s reputation for exceptional professionalism is well-known among colleagues, faculty and funders. He was our team’s Foundation liaison at CU Boulder. One could not have asked for a more a reliable partner in both leading and supporting our work with funders. Recently a program officer at a local foundation made an unsolicited comment to me about how good Zach is at his job. This sort of praise by an external associate made me even more appreciative of Zach’s many talents!
Rick Berman
I worked with Zach when I was Director of Lewis & Clark Problem Gambling Services. Although he was responsible for supporting many other programs in the college, Zach somehow found the time to bring his incredible competence, energy and dedication to boost the work of our small program and help us reach another level. Obtaining funding for problem gambling programs is challenging. Unlike for other addictive disorders no federal funding is available for treatment or research on problem gambling, much stigma surrounds it, and the public is largely unaware of the significant social costs including suicide, divorce and crime. As he learned more about the issue, Zach's natural compassion seemed to energize him for the challenge. He took the initiative to identify and help us apply for grants that enabled us to double the size of our facility and to also fund a 3-year research project. Through every step of the grant writing process Zach showed both great vision and the ability to pay close attention to detail, including developing financial projections. In each grant we worked on I was impressed with Zach's ability to pull a team together and lead it to successfully complete the process. It was a joy to work with him.
