  The Cold Spray Additive Manufacturing Lab at the Kostas Research Institute performs groundbreaking research in cold spray, an additive manufacturing technique in which metal powders are deposited using a heated, high pressure gas stream. My responsibilities as a co-op include the design, execution, and analysis of sprays using a variety of metallographic techniques not limited to profilometry, optical and electron microscopy, and tensile & compression testing. I am also responsible for the operation of our VRC Gen III cold spray system, 6-axis robotic arm, 6 kW Ytterbium laser system, and the handling of metal powders. Additional tasks include fabricating metal fixtures and preparing substrates using a mill, lathe, band-saw, drill press, polishing tool, and various hand tools. Show less
