      I am involved in several projects that employ a unique transgenic rat model of Alzheimer's disease to investigate how specific factors impact its progression. My responsibilities include: ● Optimizing PCR genotyping protocol for a rat model of Alzheimer's Disease (AD) ● Handled all aspects of rearing animals for extensive research projects ● Responsible for running a variety of behavioral assays and scoring using Ethovision ○ Barnes Maze, Elevated Plus, Rotarod, Y-maze, Novel Object, etc. ● Analyzing data generated in behavioral assays using R studio and presenting key findings to the team ● Perfusing and harvesting brain tissue in the rat model ● Biochemical Analysis of homogenized brain tissue using ELISA and Western Blot ● Preparing rat and human brain tissue for sectioning on the cryostat ● Creating thin sections of brain tissue using the cryostat ● Immunohistochemical analysis of prepared brain tissue using various antibodies for AD characterization ● High content imaging and confocal microscopy ● Analyzing images of stained brain tissue using ImageJ for quantification ● Collecting and summarizing sources for a literature review on air pollution's effect on AD Show less
