I sat on the board of trustees at Concordia for 13 years providing governance to this amazing charity. I worked closely with the volunteer team to develop their department which supports the delivery of NCS in West Sussex, short and long term volunteering projects within the UK and overseas as well as running group volunteering programmes for schools and youth organisations. I also sat on the HR and Ops Committee and later on on the Finance and Risk sub-committee. I continue to support Concordia in an informal capacity.

Jan 2005 - Mar 2015
As Education and Training Manager at UK Youth I led a team of 6 talented and dedicated youth work trainers and regional development officers, 3 administrators and a range of freelance consultants and contractors. We worked together to offer a national programme of training for youth professionals, delivering training on a range of funded projects directly to young people, and supporting and quality assuring a suite of accredited learning programmes for young people. We also produced support materials and resources for supporting a quality approach to work with young people within the non-formal learning sector.

Jul 2002 - Dec 2004
As YAA Manager I developed the Youth Achievements Awards and helped the programme to establish itself as one of the key routes for recognising young people's achievements in the world of informal learning. During this time we redeveloped the materials, making them available in wide range of accessible formats and a variety of other languages.

Based in the North of Namibia at the Ongwediva Teachers' Resource Centre, I was responsible for the upskilling of school teachers in the English language, their teaching in English and developing a learner centred approach to education. In order to reach over 800 school teachers (many of whom were based in very remote locations) we developed a cluster system with each cluster being led by a local lead teacher.
