Joe’s Leather Goods started as a hobby in my apartment in Cairo back in 2017. It was a great fulfillment of my constant desire to work with my hands and create things. In the realm of Covid-19, I was forced to leave my permanent job. This is when I started to focus more on what I love the most and eventually turned JLG into a full time job bringing the brand into life. The Brand: Designing the logo and all branding material of JLG Designing all leather products such as bags, wallets and other leather accessories, through sketching them, creating cutting patterns and executing the products themselves The Workshop: Using multiple machines and tools to execute my designs using several materials The Shop: Developing the old website via Wordpress and the new website via Shopify Designing catalogs to send to resellers or to establish B2B communication Social Media: Creating daily content including the photography and videography needed for different social media channels Photography: Doing the photography of the campaigns and taking behind the scene footage as well as retouching the photos and taking care of the post production

    • Intern
      • Feb 2015 - Apr 2015

Being an intern is not an easy job. There is a lot to learn in a short amount of time. Expectations can sometimes be high and you have to realize that an employer invests a lot of time in training you to be ready for a working level position. You can't get upset easily and have to be willing to put in the extra hours and show that you're really passionate about what you're doing. I knew where my strengths were from the beginning - illustration, print, and some basic web. I really drove into CSS and learned a lot about that. Mistakes were made along the way. I'm not just there to learn, I'm to improve and hopefully gain the experience that leads me to the next part of my career. I might find I don't necessarily like a particular part of a job that I thought I would really love. That's all part of the process.
