The experience I gained with Byte Able aligned with software development project management and business-to-business communications/stakeholder engagement across Namibia, South Africa and Angola. Much of my work entailed working closely with the project manager, particularly in the requirements gathering phase and deliverables tracking, to ensure the smooth running of the project and the best possible product. Unlike the linear and more traditional approach to project management, we approached software development projects through the Agile-Scrum framework. Here, my role was also to facilitate meetings with software developers, namely, the daily stand-ups and weekly Scrum meetings. I am thankful to have worked with a great team of people who were collaborative, dynamic, productive and creative. Show less

Participant and Contributor (Climate Justice Central)
-
Mar 2021 - Jun 2022
Former participant (YAJAP fellow) and contributor of the Climate Justice Central project and platform under the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung (Southern Africa Office). Much of my work published was thanks to cross-border collaboration with other journalists, researchers, academics, and professionals. This project became my breakaway from the newsroom into the field of science writing, particularly human-nature relations, as an independent journalist. Albeit it was a challenge, I had incredible support from the JournAfrica! coordinators. This was a great learning experience. Show less

Multimedia Journalist and Reporter
-
Oct 2018 - Jan 2021
The inception of my career started at the Free Press of Namibia. Before I was promoted, I worked as intern at the daily newspaper’s multimedia desk being guided by editors, subeditors and senior journalists at the time. I transitioned from the classroom (journalism and media in theory) to the newsroom during my undergraduate studies, working full-time and studying part-time. Aside from co-managing the newspaper’s online platforms, I was also assigned as a journalist at the health desk. Being tasked with great responsibility as a young professional taught me invaluable lessons about the field of media and the skill of researching and writing for a public audience. Show less
