Wrote case study on US civil-military coordination in Afghanistan from 2001 to 2009, based on interviews with 130 senior and mid-level experts who worked in or on Afghanistan during the eight years studied, including all four US ambassadors to Afghanistan; both Commanders of US Central Command; senior military commanders; senior development experts; policy makers from the US Departments of State and Defense, the US Agency for International Development (USAID), and the National Security Council; and NATO, UN, and NGO officials. Worked with the US Departments of Defense and State, and USAID to strengthen interagency, civil-military, and multinational cooperation. Served with US diplomats on five-member US delegation to Stockholm Forum on Truth, Justice, and Reconciliation. Mediated labor-management negotiations and taught negotiation and conflict resolution to management and union leaders. Convened high-level interagency and public-private dialogues. Facilitated contentious public meetings, including environmental hearings and consultation in New York following collapse of World Trade Center.
