Henry Tarbi, SPHR

Yvonne was one of my most earnest and dedicated faculty. She took on some of the tougher jobs at Year Up and did it with style and grace. She taught some of our new curriculum which was at a pilot state. She adapted the curriculum and clearly improved it. Then she had the onerous task of teaching at both the Boston and Cambridge facilities. This was something that in general didn't like doing. She made it work with grit and stamina. And the students benefited. She made her classrooms engaging, informative and fun. What was so compelling about Yvonne is she was the consummate learner. She cared about self learning and the learning of her students. She sought feedback and gratefully received it. And as a result her growth at Year Up was rapid and effective. Usually it took a year for an instructor to adapt to the unique conditions of a Year Up classroom. Yvonne did it in six months and then took on other challenges. She was comfortable with change and never lost site of the mission. As a result the students and fellow team mates benefited greatly.

Yvonne is a detail-oriented and receptive leader. As a member of her team, I consistently felt supported and empowered in my work. Additionally, Yvonne is outgoing, communicates directly, and is a pleasure to work with because she is passionate about her job. Because of what I learned from Yvonne while working in her department at CLUES, I am extremely satisfied to have had her as one of my first managerial role models in my professional career.
