My teaching philosophy is rooted in the practice of experiential learning. By challenging the concept that knowledge is didactically transferred from teacher to student, community learning provides a platform for shared experiences to support any information being transmitted to any audience of learners. As Instructor of KSU’s 1111 seminar: Tomorrow’s World Today, I lead classes of 25 students on a curricular exploration of current global challenges as they relate to information, technology, and natural resources. Students are challenged to analyze global and domestic issues in effort to achieve a comprehensive understanding of intercultural competence and the skills necessary for success in an increasingly global society.

Leadership Coordinator

Grounded in the Social Change model, this position called for creating and facilitating leadership programs that support the retention, progression and graduation of undergraduate students. Responsibilities included but were not limited to building and conducting leadership training and workshops, as well as providing real life opportunities for students to apply their acquired skills. In this role, I was positioned to help students make applicable connections between pedagogy and exposure, in effort to maximize their overall academic experience.

Graduate Teaching/Research Assistant

As the first Teaching Assistant in KSU's Interdisciplinary Studies department, I conducted weekly lectures, prepared the course syllabus, agendas, and quizzes. I made use of both objective and subjective methods of assessment. I also assigned and documented course grades onto spreadsheet formats. Along with quizzes, I participated in grading major writing assignments and led 3 hour class sessions and varied classroom activities.As a Research Assistant, I research secondary literature on social movements, urban politics, and non-natural disasters in Mexico City, as well as other cities in Latin America. Responsibilities included cataloging and translating over 5000 newspaper clippings from Ecatepec, Naucalpan, and Tlalnepantla; as well as, cataloging clippings from the labor and social movement press.

Graduation Coach

Responsible for overseeing the path to graduation for over 250 students. Duties include providing advising, counseling, and other resources for Latino and Hispanic students at Kennesaw State University, as well as, facilitating workshops and coordinating programming to support the retention and graduation rates for students in the program. Other responsibilities include forging relationships with local community leaders in effort to expand students' network and enhance opportunities for employment after graduation.

Facilitated up to 80 Real-Estate transactions a month, as well as post-closing documentation, including closing document preparation and post-closing document distribution.
