MSc Oil and Gas Engineering Graduate (With Distinction)
-
Oct 2012 - Sep 2013
Student member of SPE and Energy Institute. Graduated from the University of Aberdeen in Master of Science degree in Oil and Gas Engineering. My programme was packed with industry oriented content which include Project Management, Fundamentals of Safety and Risk Management Concepts, Facilities Engineering, Well and Reservoir Engineering, Flow Assurance and Energy Technologies. My dissertation was centred on "Infiltration of an oil spillage into a porous media" using the Richards equation. This looked at a time step estimation of an oil spillage and the maximum seepage depth the spillage can reach per given time under certain limitations. A broader study into soil parameters and infiltration depth were considered to further enhance the scope of the work. Show less

Repaired and maintained all Well Test equipment ranging from Diverter Manifolds, Choke Manifolds to Surge Tanks, Knockout vessels and Flow Heads. I was also involved in pressure testing, redressing and calibration of all the tools and equipment. I gained the understanding of accurately calibrating and maintaining tools and equipment not only to ensure they worked efficiently but also as a means of improving safety and integrity of workers on the rigs or at working sites. Worked offshore (Drill Stem test (DST) and Drawdown tests) on the Ghana Jubilee Oil project. These projects further enhanced my understanding of practical Well Testing as a means of obtaining information on well flowing characteristics. I also gained hands-on understanding of drawdown and build-up well tests. Set up the emergency shut-down panel (ESDP) for the Deepwater Millennium during a DST operations. It involved running airlines from the Well Test area to the drillers’ cabin, accommodation area and the well test area. This would be used in case of shutting off the well should an excessive pressure breach downhole safety equipment. Show less

Worked as an assistant to engineers and technicians in repairing and maintaing mud motors, wireline logging tools, and coring barrels. I worked on OnTrak tool assembles, Bi-directional Communication Power Module (BCPM) tools. Most of the equipment were being used for operations in the Tano Basin (Ghana) and Cote D’Ivoire. Designed and supervised building of a downhole modification/test tool. A non-magnetic tool needed to be calibrated. I aided in designing and building a required stand to aid in the calibration process. Worked with the Reservoir Characterization Instruments (RCI) department to maintain and calibrate downhole tools. I worked in calibrating, maintaining and loading these tools as well as logging tools for operational jobs. Participated in a three-day international coring school organized by Baker Hughes on the use of Hydrolift system- a tool used for coring in soft sediments. I had extra practical training in coring. I gained appreciable knowledge of coring components and in the assembly of core barrels. Have a good understanding of Wellbore Positioning through a course module I did in Baker Hughes Learnlink software program. In addition to this technical area, I took a number of Health and Safety courses as well as management courses. Show less

Worked as an intern on industrial attachment with the Drilling Engineering, Production Engineering and Geophysics departments. Had training in the Geology labs on core samples. This enhanced my understanding of how core samples are handled and processed for information. Was exposed to how petrophysical data are obtained from the core samples. Additional exposure to handling of geophysical data. Worked as an intern on industrial attachment with the Drilling Engineering, Production Engineering and Geophysics departments.
