  The sustainability officer coordinates and facilitates AUC’s institutional response to environmental challenges such as global warming, scarcity of energy and water, the needs to transition to renewable energy and sustainable transportation, solid waste recycling and curbing pollution; in carrying out these responsibilities, the sustainability officer seeks always to improve the University’s operations, to strengthen its finances and to enhance its reputation as a sustainability leader in Cairo, in Egypt and in the Middle East and North Africa region.Principal Responsibilities:• Data Management (Collection, Retention and Reporting):- Ensures the continuous and uninterrupted collection, retention and reporting of comprehensive monthly data on AUC’s energy and water consumption as well as its production of sorted solid waste, working in collaboration with AUC’s facilities and operations managers, its energy conservation engineer, its head of campus landscaping and its solid waste managers. -Coordinates the preparation and distribution of monthly energy and water consumption reports, and seeks continually to improve the quality, consistency and accuracy of these reports, as well as their usefulness for devising and implementing conservation and efficiency measures.• Energy, Water and Solid Waste Management Convenes a permanent resource conservation and efficiency task force, comprised of facilities and operations staff, budget officers and interested faculty. The task force meets twice monthly to implement and track the performance of conservation, efficiency and cost-saving measures. - The sustainability officer helps to coordinate the biennial report writing, for AUC’s carbon footprint report, a unique AUC contribution to sustainability research, education and practice in the MENA region that is currently in its third edition (April 2015). • Raising Awareness on Campus and Enhancing AUC’s Reputation as a Sustainability Leader in Egypt and MENA.
