Msc. research project #2
-
Jan 2017 - Jul 2017
In my second research project, I studied the effect of synaptic activity on the regulation of the amyloid beta-peptide (Abeta) and alpha-synuclein (aSyn) in neuronal cultures. The aim of the project was to elucidate the effects of an increase in synaptic activity on the levels of Abeta and aSyn, which are proteins involved in Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease respectively. I got experience in cell culturing, Western blotting, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), fluorescent staining and confocal microscopy. These experiments were performed under the supervision of Prof. S. Frykman, in the research group of Prof. L. Tjernberg at the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm (Sweden).

Organization of the music festival Rumbling Earth - part of the Master's Honours Program
-
Jan 2016 - Jul 2016
As part of the Master's Honours Program, I joined the organization of the music festival Rumbling Earth in Groningen. The festival's purpose was to create space for spontaneity and creativity on the streets, by allowing artists to perform spontaneously without needing a license. I wrote a detailed request to the government to ask for permission for the event, helped to promote the event and managed a location during the event itself, amongst others.
