Prepared basic debit and credit accounting entries within the company's revenue and purchases ledger. Prepared and organised invoices for companies that used the hotel's services, as well as using communication skills to contact those with outstanding payments. Compared booking records with internet travel agencies to ensure that correct commission was charged which entailed developing and using professional scepticism to spot any unusual fees. Additionally, this helped improve my analytic skills as it allowed for my understanding of arithmetic and technology (Microsoft excel) to be used in a real life working environment. Organised and prepared sales and purchase files for VAT records which requires significant attention to detail as these records are submitted to HMRC. Dealing with complaints not only in a professional manner but also efficiently is essential whilst working at reception, this role improved my problem-solving skills as these requests were to be handled well without hesitation.

Student Ambassador

Oct 2018 - Jul 2019
As a student ambassador, my role is to inspire, motivate and share my passion for The University of York with prospective students, with the aim of encouraging them to progress onto higher education. The schools and colleges visiting the university on workshop days are mostly located in areas of deprivation or have low progression rates onto higher education. It is important to clarify any misconceptions prospective students have about university and it is my role to do so which requires clear and powerful communicational skills. Some of my roles include leading campus tours where I am able to provide students with a feel of university surroundings as well as share my experiences with them. I also help to ease the nerves of students before their interviews which entails ensuring that I am fully engaged with the students as well as building a strong rapport in a short period of time. I thoroughly enjoy working as a student ambassador as I like working with young people and receive satisfaction of watching and helping others learn.

I took part in the National Citizen Service where I volunteered in an elderly care home and campaigned on the streets of Kingston Upon Thames London to raise awareness for Youth with Depression. This involved me leading a team of 5 people in order to fundraise for the charity. I was commended on my inclusive leadership style which meant we were able to raise the most money in the shortest period of time. Furthermore, this involved me using my initiative in order to problem solve especially during the initial budgeting process.
