My research was focused on investigating host-pathogen interactions in the female genital tract using immunology, molecular biology, cell biology and proteomic techniques. I worked independently and in teams on multiple projects that have led to publications and presentations including;- Project 1, investigated mechanisms of host-pathogen interaction between parasite Trichomonas vaginalis and host vaginal cells and PBMCs - Project 2, assessed mechanisms of increased risk of HIV-1 in Trichomonas vaginalis coinfection in-vitro- Project 3, investigated factors that influence inflammation and susceptibility to infections in cohorts of women at high risk for HIV-1 - Collaborated with cross-functional teams of clinicians, bioinformaticians, statisticians and epidemiologists- Managed college students’ research projects for the annual BWH STARS Summer Program - Trained and mentored students and technicians in multiple techniques, data analysis and presentation skills- Prepared SOPs and managed lab records for quality control per College of American Pathology accreditation
