Assistant Editor Intern
-
Feb 2019 - Apr 2019
As an intern assistant editor, I supported the editor in research about topics for news articles, translations, conducting interviews, attending summits and briefings at the European institutions in Brussels and report on them. I reported and researched topics such as but not limited to * Brexit * EU-China * IS warriors * NATO's 70th anniversary * Youth 4 Climate movement * Recycling * etc. I got the opportunity to write my own extended article in Japanese, which can be found linked to this. The article is about 'A dog of Flanders', a story about Antwerp, which was famous in Japan, but not in Belgium. A previous statue in front of the Onze-Lieve-Vrouw Cathedral in Antwerp was replaced with a new one, sponsored by a Chinese jeweler. Why was this? How did China come in the picture in a story that is shared culture between Belgium and Japan? Besides that, I supported the editor in another article which has been published. The article is about what consequences Brexit could have for British students studying abroad from their point of view. For this, I mainly supported in conducting the interviews and providing transcripts as well as other background information. Show less

Resource Coordinator
-
Nov 2011 - Aug 2017
I started to work as a Resource Controller at Hewlett Packard in Belgium in 2011. There I covered at first the BeNeLux region, which extended to having also the Nordic Countries as part of my area. I was in contact with customers on a daily basis, noting the occurred issues of the system and looking for a fast solution, as well as followup calls to check if everything was repaired and working as it should be in a timely manner. The customer list was broad, ranging from the Mission Critical Multinational Customers to the smallest one-man company. Besides this as a main function, I also provided trainings to my colleagues regarding new procedures, use of infrastructure and IT programs. One more function I took upon me, was that of first contact for Worldline in Belgium and Luxembourg, having contributed to a emergency sms system to be able to control and respond to any large issues of their infrastructure in the fastest way as possible.
