As a Bilingual Family Advocate, I provide crisis intervention, support, follow up and case management resources to families that come to the Center following an outcry from a child of abuse or witness of a crime. In addition, I provide mental health assessments to clients in crisis and will be trained in the Child and Family Traumatic Stress Intervention (CFTSI), a short term therapy model that addresses trauma symptoms and the parent/child relationship. I will also be trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. I am in the process of obtaining my Phase 1 certification in the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics through the Neurosequential Network that was developed by Dr. Bruce Perry. My role is also to advocate on behalf of families as they navigate various systems. I work closely with multidisciplinary teams including medical professionals, law enforcement, child welfare professionals, legal professionals, and community agencies.
