As the founder and director of Mariachi de Yale, I organize around 20 interest students in the Yale community to learn the beautiful Mexican culture through mariachi music and song. As the director, I organize logistics to ensure we have time blocked to rehearse, instruments to play with, funds from Yale to continue our endeavors, and passion for everyone to feed off of! As a violin player since I was 8 years old, starting a Mariachi at Yale is a dream come true. As a full time intern at the COPPROME Orphanage in Honduras, I am considerably and comprehensively formalizing education curriculum for the students within the orphanage which is about 40 students and ranges from kinder up to 12th grade. Working with fellow colleagues such as the current staff, other interns, and the supervisor, I will be formalizing this curriculum completely in Spanish to ensure the educational welfare of the orphans in El Progreso, Yoro, Honduras.
