Janis Siders was responsible for my internship at Latvenergo, during that time he explained me the fundamentals and principles of DevOps and helped me learn them by providing real life examples of usage. With Janis mentorship and supervision I was able to learn and gain new knowledge not only about DevOps and project management fundamentals but also about different options and methodologies for managing the development pipeline. Janis also inspired and motivated me to choose these topics as basis for my dissertation at University in Denmark, Roskilde, my professors were very pleased that I chose to write about topic which extended my knowledge about project and development management that was not part of our curriculum. After my internship I was able to use this gained knowledge to suggest or provide consultation/analysis for other companies wanting to change, adjust or optimize their IT efficiency by either automating or optimizing some parts of development pipeline. I would suggest Janis as mentor for other interns or future IT Specialists wanting to learn new things about project and development management. Janis has a way of explaining things in a good understandable manner, which helped a lot and in my case motivated and interested me to learn and practice more things related to DevOps after my internship.

Datafix is WEB and application development company it was easy to implement Agile/Scrum in it. Learning and getting know the scrum methodology I realized that is fundamentally a very simple way of managing software development more effectively. At the beginning it was a risk to adopting agile processes because it was something new and unknown. Developer team still developed their applications using the traditional waterfall model, but after I explained Scrum workflow we understand that the worst thing that can happen is our project schedule fail. At first we tried the scrum methodology in some risk-free projects, adapted working environment and planed some new projects in advance, people get used to it and we decide to keep doing this. When our team (PO/SM, Developer, Designer, Tester) finished first scrum project I made prioritized impediment list to improve Scrum and with every next project Scrum became better and better. . Experience / Key Achievements: • Removed the barriers between development and the customer so that the customer directly drives development; • Teached customers how to maximize ROI and meet their objectives through Scrum; • Improved the productivity of the development; • Improved the engineering practices and tools so each increment of functionality is potentially shippable; • Provided and maintained all necessary external communications and status information for the scrum team. • Ensured the Agile/Scrum process is implemented effectively and provides coaching and training at the team, department, and company levels to maximize its benefits • Coordinated department and partners towards on-time delivery of critical projects and programs • Identified and managed risks associated with projects and programs in order to achieve project accomplishment • Significantly contributed to product roadmap planning, scheduled projects for managed teams and coordinated across teams to build a cohesive roadmap schedule Show less
