Bio
Ted Bowman
I worked with Jess for over 6 years when we were both part of Acquia’s Drupal Acceleration Team(formerly the Office of the CTO). She was integral to our work in adding many features to Drupal core in that time. Jess was often the core committer that did the final review for many issues I worked on for Drupal core. She would often catch serious problems with issues no one else who worked on or reviewed the issue had found. She is especially good at finding backward compatibility problems and regressions to the user experience. I think this shows that she possesses both a fine eye for technical detail as well as the ability to put herself into the mindset of the user who will ultimately be using the software, a rare combination of skills. Although Jess can be a tough reviewer in the sense that she can find problems others have missed, she is also a encouraging reviewer that keeps in mind that encouraging both experienced and beginner contributors will more likely lead to those contributors continuing to be engaged. Jess would be an excellent addition to any team that wants to increase the stability and security of their software project.

Jess is one of the pillars of the Drupal community and one of the most experienced and meticulous maintainers of a major open source project. Known better by her handle 'xjm' she has managed 2/3rds of Drupal's core releases, dozens of security advisories, and been foundational to Drupal's success for most of the last decade. I've had the privilege of working with xjm on a variety of projects for the Drupal community. She was key in defining how the packaging and release infrastructure should work for Drupal security releases (and releases in general). She helped define the technical requirements and vet the security model for securely signing packages on Drupal.org. She also collaborated with the Drupal Association team to ensure that contribution opportunities were a core part of every event we hosted, to keep Drupal innovation moving. Jess' portfolio of open source experience speaks for itself. She is consistently in the top 10 contributors to Drupal, out of thousands participating in the project. Her profile on Drupal.org(https://www.drupal.org/u/xjm) shows a history of thousands of significant and technically sophisticated contributions. And at the same time she is a leader in mentorship of new contributors. I am grateful that I will be able to continue to work with Jess within the Drupal community, and would love to work with her in a professional capacity as well. Any organization would be extremely lucky to have her.
