  Background research and literature review of form-active structures and design processes. Design and prototyping of form-active structures involving experimentation in physical and computational spaces. Physical and computational analyses of the design experiments which will be interactively analyzed in off-the-shelf software tools such as Rhino3D and Grasshopper plugins. A range of plugins are available to designers. While these plugins are based on different numerical methods and geometric interpretations, the tools are geared towards architects and designers to allow those tools to be adopted in conceptual design stages. The design processes and analytical results in these different software environments will be compared and further examined to study the potential as kinetic design support tools. Documentation and summary of findings. This work is positioned within the framework of research of innovative material strategies for architectural applications. The results will contribute to the body of knowledge of experimental structures that have the potential to expand the implementation of form-active and adaptive structures. Collected research data through experimentation, and surveys. Use Grasshopper model structures and analyze with karamba3d in Rhino. Unroll and analyze meshes with Ivy in the Grasshopper environment, enabling them to be laser cut or physically modeled. Show less
