My responsibilities include using the Toyota Production System (TPS) to improve our dock leveler building and bumper block building processes. This can include using standardized work, spaghetti diagrams, work balance, combination charts, and other TPS improvement methodologies. One example of the many successes we've achieved includes a motion kaizen project that eliminated 2 operators in the Final Assembly Department and increasing the production in that area from 10 levelers/shift to 12 levelers/shift which resulted in a cost savings of ~$97000. Another example success we've achieved is a motion kaizen project that decreased the cycle time from 7 mins/unit to 5 mins/unit and helped increase the operators in the Edge of Docks area of the plant from 50 units/day to 55 units/day (and counting) resulting in the elimination of 1 operator and a savings of ~40,000. I facilitated and implemented 5S+Safety high performance team where we audited the plant monthly and increased the 5S+Safety scores from scores of 16/100 to scores of 70/100. My successes includes a layout project where the footprint of a cell was decreased by 30%, ergonomics were also improved based on a BRIEF/BEST score by 10 points. I also worked on a motion kaizen project where we were able to decrease the WIP by $17,000 baseline with a projected savings of $42,000 annually. I also helped in the implementation of TPM across the plant, improving team improvement boards, creating value stream boards, and creating standard work. Show less

My responsibilities included reducing the lead time on the multi-filter value stream where I facilitated a project using value stream mapping, supermarkets, and FIFO strategies to reduce the lead time of the multi-filter value stream by 45%. The results of this project included a 4.3% decrease in wages to sales (12% to 7.7%) in wages to sales, an increased output of 25,000 filters, and an annual savings of $140,000/year.

I was responsible for developing standardized work and work instructions. One of my other successes included implementing and facilitating a heijunka scheduling project within the plant which reduced the lead time by 34% while maintaining an on time delivery of 95%. Inventory reduction was also one of my focuses where my team with me being the facilitator recognized and reduced the inventory by $80,000.

Leading a team in the successful creation of a scheduling system that would organize freight deliveries to all Sam's Clubs. Along with the project we also had to create a report and present to a group of engineers from Sam's Clubs and be evaluated by a group of professors from the University of Arkansas.
