Assistant Research Scientist
-
Aug 2022 - Present
I work collaboratively with experts in a range of fields, including agronomy, geochemistry, and ecology with a common goal of capturing carbon by enhanced rock weathering (ERW). My research studies the use of silicate minerals in agricultural systems for carbon capture and mineralization.- My primary responsibility is the development and execution of wet-lab experiments for investigating carbon capture potential and geochemical analysis. - In addition to my independent research projects, I assist the science team with the planning and implementation of field trial agronomy experiments.- I analyze large data sets from various ongoing research projects. - Regularly communicate scientific findings by authoring internal white-papers and presentations. Transfer Student Peer Mentor
-
Aug 2023 - Present
The College of Chemistry Transfer Student Mentorship Program (CoC TSMP) was started by UC Berkeley graduate students in 2020 with the goal of connecting transfer students to peer and graduate student mentors to facilitate their transition to and help them make the most of their time at UC Berkeley. Incoming transfer students are paired with a graduate and undergraduate transfer student sharing their research interests who serves as a personal mentor throughout the fall semester, providing guidance in finding a research position, career planning, and work-life balance. Undergraduate Researcher - The Jeffrey A. Reimer Lab
-
Dec 2022 - Present
My research focusses on synthesizing novel functional porous materials like metal-organic-frameworks (MOFs) and characterizing their chemical and mechanical properties. Porous materials are unique structures with extremely high surface areas, tunable pore size, and adjustable internal surface properties, making them promising materials for use in gas/carbon separation, water purification, electronic sensing and catalysis.Duties:• Using organometallic and reticular techniques to design and create porous, crystalline structures which exhibit dynamic structure flexibility and control.• Regularly use liquid and solid-state NMR, XRD, and FTIR for material characterization.• Maintain glovebox, fume hood, and gas dosing apparatus in safe and working order. • Routinely present on current relevant research in the fields of gas separation, inorganic synthesis, and materials characterization to the Reimer Group.
