  Founding principal and design architect at LOCUS Architecture, with over 25 years of experience as managing partner, lead architect, project manager, carpenter, and developer on both residential and small commercial projects. I welcome variety in the challenges I have accepted over the course of my career - administration, project management, design, detailing, construction, teaching university studios, writing, maintaining ag irrigation systems (in my youth), volunteering, leading industry committees, accepting design awards, and living in two sustainable homes I designed and built for my family. This varied background has given me the design-thinking expertise to lead a wide range of projects at Locus Architecture across a number of sectors, including residential, religious, public, industrial adaptive reuse, hospitality, food production, agricultural, business, and retail. Every unique problem deserves an elegant solution.

  My partner at Locus, Paul Neseth, and I co-taught a design+build studio in the Architecture Department at the University of Minnesota, teaching students how to make what they draw in order to broaden their design abilities through the process of making. We led two projects on the Minnesota State Fair Grounds and a third in hurricane ravaged East Biloxi, Mississippi.
