Reporting to the PVC for Teaching and Learning, I am currently leading the four-year Teaching Transformation Programme to help support and enhance the student experience. This builds on the three main responsibilities of my role. First, to develop the use of technology enabled learning to support our campus based students wherever they are studying. Second, to support the development and enhancement of curricula and assessment across all Schools and third, to enhance the promotion of all aspects of teaching and learning. I work across all our campuses and all Schools, along with a number of Professional Services to help ensure co-ordination of effort and efficiency in what is undertaken.

Director of Teaching and Learning
-
Aug 2007 - Jul 2013
As Director of Teaching and Learning I champion the importance of teaching and learning. I represent the interests of the University (as embodied in the Teaching and Learning Strategy) in discussions with all Heads of Schools individually, in committees, in Senate and with outside agencies such as U21, QAA and HEA. I play a number of roles that support the operational manifestation of the aims and objectives of the strategy. In particular, providing solutions to areas of weaker performance alongside a wider enhancement role, as well as helping fund innovation. The role entails working with colleagues from a range of professional services alongside serving on key University committees and reporting to the PVC for Teaching and Learning.

Responsible for raising the profile of and engagement with e-learning across the University. Having devised a strategy for enhancing e-learning, my work focused on bridging the gap between academic colleagues and learning technologists to explore ways in which technology could be used to solve previously identified problems. This took me across all the campuses and School of the University as well as working closely with a number of Professional Services.
