  After completing my audit articles and super senior fixed term contracts at Grant Thornton Johannesburg, I was given the opportunity to join the Los Angeles office of Squar Milner during the audit busy season as an audit secondee. Duties and responsibilities were those of a senior audit staff. Training on US GAAP was provided at the outset in January and updates were attended throughout the secondment period whereby a good knowledge of US financial and reporting standards were obtained.
