London, United Kingdom Building on a decade of skills and training, my role at Esmée Fairbairn Foundation is a varied one, but focuses on using technology to improve efficiency and deepen social impact. This saved considerable costs of running an on-premise server, without dropping any functionality core to staff roles. - Managing the IT and Services budget, reducing expenditure in strategic areas to allow for investment in newer technologies, ultimately pushing the organisation to become a technology leader in the Foundation space. - Involved in the development of the Funders’ Collaborative Hub, a Covid-19 initiative to bring together some of the UK’s largest private funders to tackle complex social issues, and identify and plug funding gaps for specific sectors. - Continually upskilling Foundation staff on skills ranging from Microsoft Office to Cyber Security. Staff surveys show a consistent year-on-year improvement of staff’s confidence with IT. Show less

In my position as Technology Lead in 2016, I expanded the platform to cater for other needs in the Alumni network. - As a Mentor (2012-2019, voluntary) I use my experience and expertise to currently support 6 teams across the country. Between July 2016 and August 2017, UniHack ran 8 weekend events, engaging 16 universities, and over 300 students. Additionally, we had also developed a schools programme to engage further education institutions. Naturally, the role of a startup co-founder is varied, but mine included: - Developing and delivering our event workshops and training sessions, with audience sizes ranging from 20-100 individuals - Building and harnessing relationships with higher and further education institutions to tailor our packages to their needs - Capturing data on all our events, including the workshops and training sessions, to ensure we continue to develop the programme inline with both the students and institutions’ needs My experience running UniHack has been incredibly beneficial, providing me with a platform to develop my skills working with students and young people. I have become more confident in content delivery, and making sure that trainees leave our events with the knowledge they need. Show less
