The work required as a contributer consisted mostly of pitching a story to editors, compiling pertinent information, doing interviews when needed and writing the article by deadline. The work required as a contributer consisted mostly of pitching a story to editors, compiling pertinent information, doing interviews when needed and writing the article by deadline. After three semesters as a contributer, I was asked and accepted to be the sports editor. In addition to writing approximately half of the articles in the sports section, as an editor I was responsible for accepting or declining article ideas, assigning responsibilities to those writing for the sports section, editing stories to AP standards and formatting the page for print.
