  I work as a Legislative Aide for State Senator Erika Geiss at her office based in Lansing.Responsibilities I am undertaking:- Tracking the office Outlook and voicemail inbox and responding to constituents.- Assisting constituents with issues they need remedied. Examples of such issues include but are not limited to: contacting the Unemployment Insurance Agency on behalf of the constituent to resolve any issues that prevents a constituent from receiving their unemployment income, contacting the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on behalf of the constituent to resolve any domestic issues, and contacting various other state government departments such as Michigan Department of Corrections for questions regarding a family member within a prison or the State Attorney General's office for any legal issues a constituent is facing.- Tracking legislation within the State House of Representatives or State Senate chambers for various organizations or constituents looking to keep up to date on specific legislation that they are interested in.- Conducting research on particular topics of interest as delegated by the office Chief of Staff or Legislative Director. I have conducted research on topics pertaining to: Certification requirements for home inspectors in Michigan and the necessity for an increase of salaries for teachers.- Creating a bi-weekly district newsletter for the 6th senate district with information including but not limited to: providing constituents with updates on introduced legislation, providing resources pertinent to current events (i.e. - COVID-19 testing and vaccine locations), and upcoming coffee hour and town hall information.

  I worked as a Legislative Intern for State Senator Erika Geiss at her office based in Lansing.Responsibilities that I undertook:- Conducted research for topics such as the Comcast lawsuit in Washington State and the issues surrounding teacher pay in the state of Michigan.- Handled constituent calls that varied from questions regarding the current status of a bill to personal issues that required guidance such as a referral to MDHHS.- Provided opinions on draft resolutions like a resolution to recognize the month of June as Lipedema Awareness Month.
