Site Manager - Connect Festival 2022
-
Mar 2022 - Sep 2022
Ingliston, Scotland, United Kingdom This was the first resurgence of Connect tFestival in over 15 years. Having been a part of the team from March: initiating and developing the site plan drawings, facilitating site visits, developing all of the specifications and finalising installations, deliveries and removals to/from site this was the first job I can fully put my own name to. It was a great experience and a brilliant culmination to a busy summer. It was a great experience and a brilliant culmination to a busy summer. I have always been told that if you don't learn something new on each job you do (or even each day) then something is wrong. Connect 2022 certainly taught me a lot.

Site Manager - Bellahouston Park, June 2022
-
Mar 2022 - Jun 2022
Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom Taking on the advancing, pre-production and on-site management for Greenday and the Red Hot Chili Peppers at Bellahouston Park was the biggest step in my career to date. This job was a great opportunity to develop my contacts in the industry as well as my on-site expertise. Supply chain shortages and a high volume of activity elsewhere in the industry meant that many items were hard to source which meant many new avenues had to be explored to succeed in the event.

The job involved working amidst a small site crew on the construction and take-down of many major events throughout the UK. Working as a Crew Boss in close quarters with many different individuals helped me to hone my management and leadership abilities. Amidst delegating and leading the crew effectively I had to take my tasks from the site office who we were sub contracted to. This then meant that I had to ensure their time-scales and projects were working on time whilst we, the crew, were also completing our tasks to seamlessly blend with this. Within my position as a forklift driver I worked much more independently than when I was a crew member or crew boss. This independent work then meant that when I was driving the forklift it was my responsibility to receive and unload all deliveries to the site, consequently take the stock count for each delivery and relay this to the office for the delivery notes to be substantiated with the purchase orders. Alongside this I also had to distribute the equipment and items across the site so that the rest of the crew can use them for the festival production. This independent work meant that I had to balance the distribution throughout site with the delivery schedule for the day.
