FHSO:Being a responsible role model for over two-hundred and fifty employees of one of the biggest retail companies in the world at the age of 22 years old gave me a massive sense of achievement. Responsibilities included promoting a positive safety culture; communicating at all levels, particularly in difficult conversations; training inductees with refresher training for all staff and dealing with inspections from higher authority services including the Fire Service and the Health & Safety Executive (HSE). It would be my responsibility to attend weekly meetings with all managers, sign off due diligence and update compliance. My computer skills increased further as well, while completing risk assessments of all types on Word documents and doing other admin related projects. The role of F.H.S.O taught me how to work alone in some aspects and to do this I became very self-motivated.Customer Asst:Being part of the heart of the company has helped me adapt to shift work and given me a sense of individual responsibility. Whether I am unloading sixty stacks of food trays from an HGV or keeping the sales floors running throughout the busy Christmas periods, or printing off product knowledge and picking the stock that was missing on the shelves, I am a big part of a growing team with a number of different colleagues from all over the world. My hours changed from the routine 9 to 5pm, to 5.30am starts which proved that I was very committed and punctual, even when the night before I may have been called out as an alarm might have activated and needed attending to whatever the time.
