I have achieved a 2.1 Masters degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Brighton. Final Year Modules studied: - Seismic Design of Reinforced Concrete Members. - Dynamics of Structures with Earthquake Engineering Applications. - Random Vibration of Structures. - Geo-technical Earthquake Engineering. For my final year project I explored the use of Bamboo as an environmental friendly and economic alternative to steel reinforcement in concrete. I investigated which factors influenced the bond strength, and how that could be improved. Methods of improving the bond strength were evaluated though a series of experiments designed to isolate individual variables. My final set of experiments demonstrated a 15 fold improvement over the initial values. This was achieved through the use of a thin coating of epoxy resin containing sand. Other Skills: - AutoCad - SAP2000 - Microsoft Office - I Can use a Total Station to set out a building. - Design according to Eurocode. I have enjoyed working on team projects whilst at University including: - Designing, Constructing and Testing an RC frame to failure to meet the specified criteria. - Studying and reporting on the feasibility of constructing and operating an underground car-park beneath an open area in central Brighton. - Designing, Detailing and Constructing from cardboard a model bridge spanning one metre and able to support a load of 1.5Kg at mid-span. - Designing an RC frame for re configuring a building whilst retaining the existing facade. This required the design of a new beam column layout modelled using SAP2000, with compliance to Eurocode 8. - Modelling the effects of earthquakes on a structure by simulation using the Clough-Penzion and the Spectrum Compatible methods on Matlab. Outputs from those was imported into a SAP2000 structural model for further analysis allowing the probability of failure to be determined. Show less
