I was in control of the History department in a three year old secondary school, I had a number of duties both inside and outside the department. I was in control of both short-term and long-term planning for the department. I planned the schemes of work for KS3 and the lessons for those schemes of work. I was also planning the yearly plans and the schemes of work for the KS3 history course for Edexcel which the schools would be starting in the next year. I also created a long term plan for the history department for the schools from year 7 to year 13. I was also delivered 18 hours of classes a week across all of KS3 (the school was only 3 years old so they only had KS3). This included 4 hours of geography which was not my subject specialty. I was in complete control of these classes including lesson planning, class room management, marking and data analysis. I was also responsible for 30 year 9 students a tutor group, I ran two half an hour sessions per day. I managed attendance, behavior and various other sessions such as class reader and house competition events. Show less

Humanities Teacher

Sep 2016 - Present
I first worked in the SEN department teaching English, History, Geography and RE to year 7 and year 8 lower ability sets (since the start of this year I have also been teaching computing as well). Within these sets there was a range of different learning needs such as SEN, EAL and Pupil Premium. I had to plan and teach a differentiated curriculum for these students. I then started teaching not only lower ability but middle and higher ability humanities sets. I also ran my own year 7 and now year 8 tutor groups. I have good knowledge of the national curriculum for the humanities subjects and have taught a range of subjects such as the Norman conquest, plate tectonics, Islam and gothic literature. Show less
