    • High Speed 2 Delivery Manager
      • Jul 2012 - Dec 2014

The London to West Midlands Project (Phase 1) of HS2 is the first phase of this circa £50bn high speed rail project that will release space on the crowded existing rail network and improve the connectivity between the major cities of the Midlands and the North. (http://www.hs2.org.uk/)This ‘Delivery Manager Role’ role is part of the integrated organisation created in early 2012 following CH2M Hill being appointed as HS2’s development partner for HS2 Phase 1. The Development Partner is responsible to HS2 Ltd for delivering the design, engineering and environmental work necessary for the Hybrid Bill that was submitted to Parliament, on time, at the end of 2013. I have led the efforts to ensure consistency and accountability for 1000's of drawings, reports and documents, across 16 Professional Service Consultants [PSCs], working with 5 geographical and 2 routewide area managers, for 220km of new rail route. These have been complex issues requiring navigation through team politics, aggressive timelines and changing circumstances to firstly get everyone working on a common goal, and then monitoring and managing progress. To this end I have initiated and coordinated multiple all hands’ PSC briefing sessions and workshops that encouraged collaboration across the teams and focussed on the programme and issues that would ensure success. The Hybrid Bill was delivered to UK Parliament in November 2013 in record time. Show less
