Space debris poses a… Show more Thesis title: Space Debris Pose Estimation Using Stereo Vision I am currently finishing my Masters Degree in Engineering at the Electronic Systems Laboratory at Stellenbosch University. My research is concerned with the development of a system that utilizes a stereo camera sensor and knowledge of orbit dynamics to estimate the pose of unknown objects in space for close proximity operations. This includes in-orbit satellite servicing, docking and space debris removal. Space debris poses a serious threat to space missions and removal is critical to the sustain the viability of earth’s orbits. My research uses machine vision, applied mathematics and recursive Bayesian estimators.

I also assisted with the overseeing of tutorials and practicals. This module entailed digital logic circuits and CPU development using VHDL.

I passed the project with a cum laude and received a reward for this project for the best use of Computer Aided Design (CAD) in a final year project.
