Bell Captain / Overnight Security
-
Apr 2021 - Sep 2021
During my seasonal employment at the Grouse Mountain Lodge, I worked as the bell captain (shuttle driver supervisor) and overnight security guard/maintenance personnel. I was responsible for regular lodge vehicle maintenance checks and upkeep, transporting guests, and keeping a data log of vehicle use and passenger manifests. I bridged the communication gaps between lodge departments and central reservations office to ensure a successful shuttle schedule and guest transportation. I oversaw three other drivers/bellmen and facilitated their day-to-day tasks. I assisted guests in their town travels and with regular room/amenity maintenance needs; such as fixing air conditioning units, televisions, hot tubs, and bathroom plumbing. As a security guard, I monitored the grounds and lodge overnight and helped other staff and guests with concerns and questions. I also assisted the events manager in set up, tear down, and transportation for events and weddings. I was responsible for managing luggage and departures of larger tour groups to ensure timely schedules and organized cargo. Show less

Deckhand
-
May 2018 - Sep 2020
During my three seasons as a deckhand for Kenai Fjords Tours, I took on a variety of roles, ensuring guest safety and enjoyment. I collaborated with a team of two other deckhands to assist the vessel captains in maintaining a coast guard regulated tour and boat. I was responsible for reviewing safety protocols, itineraries, and emergency procedures with guests prior to departure. I assisted my co-deckhands in informing guests of park information, wildlife, and landscape throughout the tour. This also included tending to seasick passengers and making them as comfortable as possible. I was also responsible for pre-season coast guard regulated boat maintenance and routine checks to ensure the vessel and stock were safe and appropriate. I also took on a maintenance role involving routine engine checks, emergency equipment checks, and winterizing vessels. Show less
