In a cynical world where a CEO is considered a crook until proven trustworthy, it's refreshing to work with someone like Will. Will is thoughtful, wise, and humble, at the same time exuding confidence and competence. His work at EMS is well-respected in the outdoor industry. It has been my pleasure to sit at his side in board meetings and see him bring cohesion to a group debate over contentious issues that face our industry. I have seen him sit across the table from politicians who are ten times more powerful and ten times less intelligent and not break a sweat in trying to explain a critical issue to someone who was clearly on a different planet at the time. I am proud to call him a mentor and a friend.
Glen McKibben
Will has a unique ability to inspire and lead teams and organizations. His energy permeated the entire EMS company while he was at the helm. It was a pleasure to work for him. Even though Will was extremely demanding, he clearly conveyed his vision and the company strategy that united and motivated the entire organization. A few of the other words that I would use to describe him are: visionary, dedicated, authentic and driven, he is a real leader that knows how to bring others along with him. Much of his contribution to Eastern Mountain Sports was well before I arrived but, Will’s passion for the company, the outdoor industry and the people that worked with him is an example to follow.
