Manchester Academy is the collective term for the event venues operated by the University of Manchester Students’ Union and is one of the busiest live music venues in Europe. I am responsible for delivery of all internal events at Manchester Students' Union, including but not limited to, the 6500-attendee Pangaea Festival and Welcome Week.Principle duties: - Assist with all activities linked to marketing and sale of tickets for events including creating the Pangaea Festival website. - Primary contact for artist bookings and artist liaison; including relationship building, fee negotiation, review of contracts, organising payments, artist travel and paperwork, accommodation and rider requirements. - Curate all stages and schedule artists for all of the festival's 15 stages, occasionally working with external promoters. - Coordinate and oversee hundreds of student volunteers in Team Pangaea to deliver the festival's décor installations. - Liaise with external contractors and procure audiovisual equipment, stage effects and creative installations to meet the visions of Team Pangaea. - Co-ordinate a diverse range of sponsors and additional commercial services including street food and bars. - Review and facilitate and requested student-led events. - Meet housekeeping standards and deliver relevant legal compliance such as: Licensing, COSHH, HACCAP and Health & Safety. - Open/closing and securing of on and off-site venues. - Co-ordinate volunteers and staff resource to 'build' the event including all installation and décor on the day of the event. - Lead the stage management and artist liaison team on the night of the event as primary contact between them and security, tech, duty managers, artist agents/managers.

Festival Director

Responsibilities• Primary responsibility for all areas of planning and delivery.• Coordinating 300+ student volunteers who drive the creative direction of the festival.• All artist bookings, logistics and production procurement and brie ng for fteen stages across the event.• Budget management.• Scheduling and chair of operations meetings. ensuring that key milestones were developed and deadlines adhered to.• Brie ng and assisting the marketing and communications team in all areas of content, design and targeting including full development of the festival’s website myself.• Primary contact for all areas of the event on the night including training and leading the artist liaison teamAchievements• Shortlisted for Best Use of New Technology at UK Festival Awards for adoption and implementation of Marcato festival management software.• Produced a full event manual detailing areas of the event that previously had no record keeping.• Moved lighting design and operation from existing to supplier to a student society, increasing volunteer participation and providing a platform for the society to win Society Of The Year.

• 2009 - Advice and training on move to smartphones - this included product comparison and integration of the handhelds into the current administrative workflow.• 2010 - Inventory, identification and sales strategy for redundant computers and peripherals from a failed games developer.• 2011/12 - Website appraisal, design input and strategy for website development.• 2013/14 - During my summer break I was trusted with a project by HPH to design and build a property management dashboard display for their offices to display live energy monitoring and utilities consumption visualisations as well as other live graphics such as on-site CCTV. Producing this entailed writing various Python scripts on a Raspberry Pi to extract comma separated values from the various meters on site. I then built a content management system based on MySQL and PHP to collect and store this data and format it to user-friendly dial and graph visualitions.

Waiter

I have worked intermittently for this country gastropub and at quieter times had the responsibility of being the sole waiter on shift. I worked at front of house serving food, taking orders and making recommendations; I also worked behind the bar and as a kitchen porter. Through my time working here I gained knowledge of serving wines and recommending food and beverage combinations.
